Lidocaine Nasal Spray

 

COMMON USES: This medication is used to treat migraine headaches.

HOW TO USE THIS MEDICINE:
1. Remove the safety clip and cap from the nasal applicator.
2. Prime the pump by pressing downward on the collar of the pump and releasing. This needs to be done if the pump is new or has not been used in a while. Repeat several times until a fine mist appears.
3. Spray is to be used in nostril of affected (headache) side only. If the headache is on the right side of the head, use spray in right nostril only. If the headache is bilateral (occurring on both sides of the head), use the spray in both nostrils.
4. Blow your nose to clear the nostrils.
5. Tilt head back slightly while pressing down on the nostril of the unaffected side with finger. Insert the nasal applicator into the other nostril.

6. Press down on the collar of the pump while deeply breathing in through the nose. Repeat this process if your physician indicates that more than one spray is to be used.
7. Replace the safety clip and cap.

CAUTIONS: DO NOT USE if there is a known allergy to Lidocaine or if you have a history of cardiac arrhythmia without first consulting your physician. Follow physician’s instructions carefully. Do not use more than prescribed.

POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS: SIDE EFFECTS that may occur during treatment are slight burning or numbness in nose, back of throat, or around eyes; a sense of gagging; and unpleasant taste. Consult your physician or pharmacist if side effects are severe, bothersome, or if a rash develops.
