Progesterone Cream and
Progesterone Gel
COMMON USES: This medication is used to treat many conditions, including:
hormone replacement therapy, abnormal periods, aiding conception,
maintaining pregnancy, and other conditions as determined by your
physician.
HOW TO USE THIS MEDICINE: Follow the directions for using
this medicine provided by your doctor. This medication should be
applied to “fatty” areas
of the body (thighs, buttocks, abdomen) because it is more evenly
absorbed. THIS MEDICATION should be taken at the same time everyday.
IF YOU MISS A DOSE, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost
time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue taking
the medication as directed. DO NOT double up. STORE THIS MEDICATION
at room temperature in a tightly-closed container, away from heat
and light. It does not need to be stored in the refrigerator. This
medicine has a shelf life of 2 (two) months, after which time it
loses its effectiveness. For this reason, do not get more than a
2 months supply at any time.

CAUTIONS: You may experience an absence of your menstrual periods
while using this medicine. If you experience irregular menstrual
periods, contact your doctor. IF YOU PLAN ON BECOMING PREGNANT,
discuss with you doctor the benefits and risks of using this medicine
during pregnancy. If you are or may be pregnant, check with your
physician for the instructions on using this medicine during pregnancy.
IF YOU HAVE DIABETES MELLITUS, this medicine may worsen blood sugar
control. Check with your doctor before you adjust the dose of your
diabetes medicine or change your diet.
POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS: Side effects that may go away during treatment
include: nausea, change in menstrual flow, breakthrough bleeding,
spotting, missed periods, breast tenderness, headache, acne or
skin discoloration. If they continue or are bothersome, check with
your doctor. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR, AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, if you
experience weight changes, rash, itching, depression, or swelling
of the ankles and fingers. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY, if
you experience sudden or severe headache, sudden loss of coordination,
sudden loss of vision or changes in vision, chest pain, weakness,
numbness or pain in arms or legs, shortness of breath, or slurred
speech. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your
physician, nurse, or pharmacist.
